Ice cream (requires cooking)

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup half-n-half
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup flavor (i.e. peanut butter, hot fudge, etc)
  1. beat sugar and eggs with electric mixer for about 3 minutes, set aside
  2. in a saucepan, bring milk to a simmer over low heat
  3. gradually whisk in egg mixture
  4. cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thick enough to coat the back of a metal spoon
  5. do not boil
  6. remove from heat and whisk in flavoring
  7. whisk in the remaining ingredients (sweetened condensed milk, half-n-half, vanilla)
  8. refrigerate until chilled
  9. pour into ice cream maker, church until ready
